Looking for something to do while you’re on the beach this Fourth of July weekend? If you’re not the type of person who can sit still for long — let alone lay on the beach all day — round up your buddies and have some fun! The beach can be your playground with all sorts of fun, active ways to make memories.
Don’t worry if you’re undecided. We compiled a list of beach sports and games to get your creative juices flowing. If you don’t like any of the below, competitive sand castle building is always an option.
Got FIFA fever? Pack a soccer ball in your beach bag and play barefoot with friends in the sand.
Stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP, gives you a nice vantage point of the ocean views as well as one great workout.
This classic game is a must on the shoreline; just make sure to be quick, as the sea wind can make that baby fly. It’s a great activity to do with your furry best friend.
Rent a bike/beach cruiser, or bring along your own, and ride along the coast early in the morning when no one is around. You’ll get a great leg workout! And stay away from the soft-packed sand — you won’t get anywhere in that stuff.
Looking for something a bit more extreme? Kiteboarding mixes wakeboarding, windsurfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and kite flying into one adrenaline-pumping hybrid water sport.
