People always have the best intentions when hitting the gym at 6 a.m. until that 5:30 a.m. alarm clock comes blaring through your ears. It’s easier to push the snooze button than to actually get up and go to your sweat session. If you’re dying for that pep in your step in the early morning, here are seven ways to get some morning motivation.
At night before you go to bed, make sure you pack your gym bag before you fall asleep so you can be ready to slip on your tennis shoes and go. Having to find your clothes, shoes and keys at 6 a.m. can be such a hassle, so knowing you’re ready to start the next day the night before can be a big motivator.
This will cut your gym time in half just by going in there with a plan. Try one of our great workout routines or sign up for some of the fitness classes at your gym to keep you motivated and burning calories!
Before the daily routine gets comfortable in your body, it’s going to be tough to get up extra early to go work out. One way to get up would be to move your alarm clock to the other side of the room so you have to get up to turn it off. And once you’re up… might as well hit the gym right?
Once you’ve made your way out of bed, grab a light snack for some energy. Grab a banana or a protein bar so you aren’t feeling too full and sluggish during your exercise, but you have enough to energize your mood and body!
Once you get into the routine of getting up early for your morning workout, it’s only natural that you start going to bed earlier. But in the beginning, setting a time that you get to bed without any distractions like social media or television is a great way to get a better night sleep!
Making friends during your morning workout provides great gym accountability buddies. Some days it will be extremely hard to move your butt out of bed, but it helps to have a friend who you know is counting on you to be there.
If you’ve met your workout goals for the week, there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to one of your guilty pleasures, but you don’t have to reward yourself with food. Instead, treat yourself to some new running shoes or that workout tank you love!
