Black mold: Beware the hype
Got mold? Is it black? Have you heard how bad black mold is? Are you freaking out? Well, don’t. Because according to Jason Earle, CEO and founder of 1-800-GOT-MOLD?, it doesn’t matter what color those mold spores are — you need only focus on cleaning them up and figuring out why they grew in the first place.

Check out this statement from the The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
“It is not necessary … to determine what type of mold you may have. All molds should be treated the same with respect to potential health risks and removal.”
Accoring to Earle, mold inspectors and mold remediators often lay it on the thick when it comes to the dangers of “black mold” or “toxic mold.” But don’t fall for it.
“It’s a sales pitch based on fear, often accompanied by inferior abilities and practices on the part of the seller,” he said. “Treat these hucksters the same as you would the character who knocks on your door and offers to seal your driveway or patch your roof.”
And don’t fall for home mold test kits that claim they can detect black mold, Earle added.
Here’s what you need to be concerned with: Mold is unhealthy — no matter what color and type it is — and it can make you sick. Think asthma, allergies, chronic sinusitis, brain fog, memory loss and chronic fatigue.

Finally a sensible approach. No labyrinth of yellow exclusion tape, elaborate plastic bubbles, expensive SCI-Fi style vacuums, ventilators, sanitizers and filtration units, robots, mobile science labs, elaborate Engineering and Architectural Firms and a fleet of special trucks to deal with a water leak or walls that need maintenance cleaning to remove trace food, insect secretions or dampened materials bacteria love to thrive on. It is slower to build a business and sell goods based on common sense and actual Science than when utilizing conjecture, hype and fear mongering.
