If you don't have the time or the cash to join a gym, there are plenty of workouts you can do in the comfort of your own living room. And if it's been a while, don't worry. You don't have to start with planks, pushups and floor work, nor do you have to spend a small fortune on exercise equipment.
We are huge fans of walking. It's low impact, you can do it indoors or outdoors and it can really transform your body. Do it right and stick with it and you might find yourself capable of tackling more challenging workouts, like Zumba, and you might find that — thanks to a stronger core and better posture and balance — you can hold a decent plank for a couple of minutes.
One of our favorite fitness instructors, Jessica Smith, happens to specialize in walking routines that you can easily do at home. She explains each move and, even if you can't nail a move exactly right or at all, she encourages you to keep moving. And that's the prime directive, especially when you're just starting to find a groove that works for you: just keep moving.
In this workout, Jessica is joined by her mom. Like us, she's seeing these moves for the first time, which is a nice extra bit of motivation — exercise doesn't need to be super hard to make you break a good sweat, and it certainly should never hurt you. Bonus? It's a Latin spice walk, so you get to do dance-y moves without actually needing to know how to dance. Trust us, even the most uncoordinated person can do this workout.
