Did you start the year off strong with a new fitness program only to see it fizzle by spring? Summer is upon us. If you feel you’re not “bathing-suit ready,” Town Sports International — operators of New York, Boston; Washington, D.C.; and Philadelphia Sports Clubs — could help get you get back on track.
The “I Am Buff” hotline — a toll-free service manned by certified personal trainers — is launching on the first day of summer, June 21. Call (855) I-AM-BUFF between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. EST and receive tips and summer fitness advice, such as how to safely get started on a fitness routine; how to advance past a workout plateau; how to exercise during a heat wave; no-equipment moves for summer vacations; moves you can actually do ON the beach; and how to integrate cardio and weight training in intervals for the quickest workout with the most calorie burn.
Not a member? No problem. Anyone can call. Nonmembers will receive a free one-week pass to the club and one free Ultimate Fitness Experience — small-group training on a special UXF Zone — session to help them jump start their beach fitness routine in time for the Fourth of July.
The hotline will be fully staffed until Sunday, June 23, so don’t procrastinate. (That’s how you got in trouble in the first place!)
“This hotline was designed for anyone who was lazy in May and just realized the Fourth of July is two weeks away,” said Chris Ruta, VP fitness at New York Sports Clubs. “We launched the bathing-suit hotline as a public service to offer support and encouragement that it's not too late to make a difference in your body and feel confident wherever your summer travels take you. By offering expert fitness advice and a free pass to our facilities, we hope to alleviate some of the additional stress that surfaces around the beach season.”
