// ]]>How would a week’s worth of your groceries compare to that of a family in Germany, Italy, Mexico or another country? We’re willing to bet your pile would contain less booze than Germany’s, less bread than Italy’s and less fruit than Mexico’s.

Or at least that’s what the book “Hungry Planet” would have us believe. Reddit alerted us to a series in the book called “What the World Eats,” which illustrates food trends among various countries around the world through photos of 30 families’ weekly groceries.

The series, which was recently covered by Time magazine, uses photos by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio, and includes the cost of weekly groceries for each family and their favorite foods. Some of the differences are staggering: Great Britain spent $253.15 in a week, while Chad spent $1.23; a family from Poland listed “pig’s knuckles with carrots, celery and parsnips” as their favorite food, while a California family lists “berry yogurt sundae.” But the similarities are interesting too: Soda makes an appearance in almost all of the developed countries, and pizza is universally loved.

The series really puts our own food habits into perspective. Don’t feel like eating leftovers? Take a look at Chad’s week of meal ingredients and think again.

Rocky Balboa is a boxer who wants to make it big but struggles with work and paying his bills. He has a chance to transition from "a nobody to a somebody” when he is scheduled in Philadelphia to box against the champion, Apollo Creed. Watch as training, sacrifice and determination allow Rocky Balboa to earn a fighting chance.

How it can motivate you: With lines like, “every champion was once a contender that refused to give up” and “if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth,” it’s hard not to run to the gym and test your physical limits.

How it can motivate you: This movie may advertise rock hard abs with shirtless men in just about every scene, but it’s not just for the ladies. Matthew McConaughey’s ripped physique has inspired an abs workout for both men and women, and other fitness plans.

How it can motivate you: This movie showcases strong bodies, determination and plenty of training scenes. Merely watching the talent of each martial artist is enough to inspire greater fitness.

Determined to divert some attention to our planet’s issues, we’ve employed the help of 25 adorable animals who are struggling to survive in the ecosystem humans so frequently interfere with. While we believe all endangered animals deserve our help, we’re hoping these 25 will at least create more awareness of threatened species and possibly inspire more people to get involved.

Just because the sun goes down doesn’t mean our activity level does. Getting that run in before the sun rises or sets is crucial for busy workers, parents and diehards. However, the road can be a dangerous place when visibility is low and a driver is not paying close enough attention to the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, in 2010, 4,280 pedestrians were killed and an estimated 70,000 were injured in traffic crashes in the United States. That’s one pedestrian killed every two hours and injured every eight minutes in traffic crashes, on average.

Stay safe and be seen

If you’re a runner, always run against traffic on the side of the road or better yet, on a sidewalk. You’re in a better position to get out of the way of a moving vehicle if you can see them coming at you! Try to run with a buddy. We all heard stories about lone runners in the park at night — they usually don’t end well. Cyclists, on the other hand, must ride with traffic since bicycles are considered vehicles on the road. Visit Bicyclesafe.com for a true-to-life guide that will help you avoid getting hit by cars.

Unless you’re getting your home decor from Walmart, you’ll probably shell out a pretty penny for a good-looking headboard. Instead, consider creating something all your own — it will not only provide your bedroom with a personalized statement piece but also give you the opportunity to show off your craftiness.

These 12 concepts are just some of the many ways you can make your own headboard.

Note: The tutorial site, Buildipedia.com, considers a handsaw with a miter box a “basic DIY tool.” If you do not, or if you have no freaking clue what a miter box even is, this project is probably not for you. If you can handle the challenge, though, it really does make for one gorgeous headboard.

“Sláinte,” which literally translates to “health,” is kind of the Irish version of “cheers” — they often use it as a drinking toast. So with St. Paddy’s Day just around the corner and us thinking green, we decided to make a toast of our own. In the spirit of the Emerald Isle, raise a Guinness to our top 10 green foods — the ones we really, truly couldn’t live without.

Add in the kiwi’s cuteness — from its compact shape to its bright green flesh — and how could we possibly resist?
