Eats_WeddingCakeThe winner of TLC’s “Cake Boss: Next Great Baker,” season one, is breaking the world record for the world’s largest wedding cake at the 2013 International Baking Industry Exposition, which is taking place Oct. 6 to 9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Chef Dana Herbert will be selling slices of the 20,000-plus-pound cake to IBIE attendees and online, and all of the proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Southern Nevada affiliate to fund breast cancer research.

“Life is all about family, friendship and a lot of love. All those things mixed up and baked together to make a lifetime of memories,” Herbert said. “This record in Vegas is about taking everything you have and creating an experience that will touch the lives of many for a lifetime.”

How does one create a 20,000-pound cake, you ask? Not alone. Herbert will be joined by a team of professional bakers and volunteers, including:

  • Jay Qualls, Greggy Soriano, Kendra Jordan and Johanna Lyons from season one of “Cake Boss”;
  • Carmelo Oquendo, Jasmine Frank and Heather Macia from season two of “Cake Boss”;
  • Melissa Payne from season 3 of “Cake Boss”;
  • Robert Self and Nicole Wilson from TLC’s “Ultimate Cake Off” and “Wedding Cake Wars”;
  • Lace McKee from TLC’s “Fabulous Cakes”;
  • Gonzuela Bastarache from Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” and “Sugar Dome”;
  • Professional bakers Juniati Kolingba, Dominicke Hayman, Stephanie Drye, DeAndrea Williams, Sebastian Todd, Latisha Mays and Netesha Herbert; and
  • Students from the culinary school of the Art Institute of Las Vegas.
