Which country has the most eco-minded consumers? Where are people most concerned about climate change? We’ll give you a hint; it’s not the United States.
According to National Geographic’s Greendex survey, India, China and Brazil, had the highest number of top-scoring consumers. These developing nations each beat out the industrialized nations of the United States, Canada, Japan and France. However, despite their low scores, consumers in these countries are more likely to feel empowered to do more to help the environment. The problem is they aren’t actually doing it.
When it comes to specific environmental concerns, climate change, air and water pollution, and shortages of fresh water top the list for consumers in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, China, and India. The economy and the cost of energy and fuel elicit the most concern among American, French, and British consumers.
