Drink up? New hangover cure hopes to provide some ‘silent nights’ this holiday season
The holidays may mark a time of giving and spending time with loved ones, but it also is a time of drinking egg nog, champagne and other themed cocktails that initially go down smooth until you’re hit the next day with the “h” word: hangover.
And while you kick yourself in the morning for putting your body through hell and scour your medicine cabinet for anything that can make you feel better, you may ask yourself, “Can a sour stomach, sensitivity to light and sound and general achiness disappear?”
According to the maker of a new over-the-counter medication, the answer is yes.
Blowfish, which is part aspirin, a.k.a. nonsteroidal inflammatory drug (500 mg, to be exact) and part caffeine (60 mg), is designed to “temporarily relieve minor aches and pains associated with a hangover, help restore mental alertness or wakefulness when experiencing fatigue or drowsiness associated with a hangover and also temporarily relieve headaches or body aches and pains alone,” all of which can be done by fully dissolving two tablets in 16 oz. of water and drinking it, according to the product’s website.
We at HellaWella are not advocating excess drinking by any means, and Blowfish may not be the first hangover cure to hit the market, but its presence this holiday season could prove beneficial for those that have one too many.
Tell us: Will you try Blowfish? What sort of “hangover cures” have you used (if any)?

Blowfish sounds exactly like Bayer A.M., which I keep at home (more for achy morning muscles). The best hangover cure I know is prevention. I drink a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage, and be sure there is some food in my stomach. So far, so good!
Isn’t caffeine + aspirin the same as Goody Powders or Excedrin?
