We're continuing the cardio trend today, so grab a jump rope — or use an imaginary one ... seriously — and get to work. Jump rope is a great cardio workout, no matter what age you are. It's also a wonderful way to warm up your body before a long day at work or before seeping into the ring — depending on whether you're a pencil pusher or Mike Tyson.
Jumping rope for 10 minutes at 120 rotations per minute produces the same cardiovascular fitness as the following activities:
Cycling: 2 miles in six minutes
Jogging: 30 minutes at a moderate pace
Running: 1 mile in 10 minutes
Swimming: 720 yards in 12 minutes
Tennis: 90 minutes (singles)
Jump rope as fast you can without stopping for one minute, take a 30-second rest and repeat. Keep going for at least 10 minutes.
