For many, Valentine’s Day is an excuse to get glammed up and celebrate. A romantic dinner for two with your special someone? A night on the town with your girlfriends celebrating being single and fabulous? Whichever Valentine’s Day scenario fits the bill we have your makeup look covered.
Here are two of my favorite two styles.
Stick to a classic and feminine look that allows your inner beauty to truly shine. Complexion will be the focus of the look, with flawless skin glowing with love. Start by defining your brows with either a brown shadow or an earth-hued eyeliner. Top the lids with concealer to eliminate any pigmentation and apply a tan or taupe shadow to the lid all the way up to the brow bone. Add a light mocha shade across the lid to the crease. Line the eyes with a deep chocolate liner just on the top lid, curl your lashes and apply lengthening mascara. Then apply primer to your skin. Next, use an illumizing foundation (or make one on your own by mixing some illumizing cream into your liquid foundation) and apply as needed across your face. Set the look with a translucent powder. Then, apply a peach or pink blush to the apples of your cheeks and a highlighting powder across your cheekbones. Finish the look with a peach lipstick that begs for a good night kiss.
Demand attention with a look that truly smolders. Start with the eyes. This will ensure that if any pigment from the shadow drops onto your face you’re not ruining your complexion. To get a modern take on a sultry eye, reach for a color rather than the traditional gray. Using navy blue eyeliner, line both top and bottom lashes, smudging slightly to gain a smoked-out look. Then, apply a midnight blue shadow over the lid from the lashline to just above the crease. Curl your lashes and apply thickening mascara. Next, perfect your complexion with a liquid foundation over an already-primed face. Use a cream blush to gain some color on the cheeks and apply a plumping gloss to the lips to perfect that pout.
And remember: This Valentine’s Day, whether you’re single or spending time with that special someone, the most important love in your life is the love that you give yourself.
