When many Americans think of scones, they think of the sweet ones: chocolate chip, cranberry, chocolate chip. But savory scones are just as tasty, and you can enjoy them either for breakfast or as a snack — unless you have Celiac disease. Then you're out of luck… or are you?
That's where I come in. My gluten-free cookery challenge this week was the humble cheese scone. Celiacs need comfort food as well, after all.
Fair warning, making cheese scones is usually a quick-and-easy bake that delivers fast and great results. Thankfully, I found that despite using a gluten-free, self-rising flour blend, baking a batch was just as easy and satisfying.
Enjoy your scones with a beautifully brewed cup of Yorkshire tea!
