How to roast red peppers on your stove (with step-by-step photos!)
November 17, 2012
Just because you don’t have a grill doesn’t mean you can’t make roasted red peppers at home. All you need is the pepper, a gas stove and a pot with a lid, and you’ll have delicious roasted red peppers in no time. And they can be added to anything — salad, sandwich, a side at dinner, you name it.
Step 1: Wash the pepper.
Never forget to wash your produce!

Step 2: Turn the burner on very high heat and place pepper directly over flames

Step 3: Use tongs to frequently move the pepper around, distributing heat to all sides.

Step 4: Continue cooking the pepper so it blackens on all sides.
It will be blotchy at first — keep at it.

Step 5: It should look like this when it’s ready.

Step 6: Place the pepper in a pot and cover, letting it steam for 10 minutes.

Step 7: Peel off the blackened layer — it should fall off easily.

Step 8: Cut the pepper in half and discard the seeds and membrane.

Step 9: You should now have two pretty pepper halves. Slice ‘em up any way you like.

Step 10: Enjoy!
