First there was Black Friday, then came Cyber Monday, and soon another day in late November will become an important part of your calendar — Giving Tuesday.
As the name implies, Giving Tuesday is encouraging us — after we’ve finished racking up the holiday deals on the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving — to spend the next day (Nov. 27) focused on giving back.
And it’s not just individuals who are pledging to do their part. Whether through matching donations, crowd-funding or offering products with proceeds going to a particular cause, organizations both large and small are doing their part. Skype, for example, has launched the Skype for Peace campaign, which will raise money for the Peace One Day initiative to help teachers teach nonviolent conflict resolution; and UNICEF is helping out by offering holiday cards and gifts to benefit its programs for children across the globe.
