New app alert: Garden and pest advice

If you’ve ever found yourself elbow-deep in garden work only to be confounded by an unforeseen foliage problem, then it may be time to download the Ortho Problem Solver App, “a tool to help homeowners solve their lawn, plant and indoor pest problems.”

The new app offers the following features — right in the palm of your hand:

• Search by Problem Area, Plant Type, Product Type or Name;
• View high-resolution photos of problems;
• Understand how to best care for your plants and know their common problems;
• Save your plants, problems and products so that you can easily access information about them; and
• Submit additional questions to experts.

The Ortho Problem Solver, which can be downloaded on Android and iPhone devices, is currently available through iTunes.

for a website and entity that is devoted to healthy living, it’s surprising to see you recommending an app from Ortho, a.k.a. Scott’s Company, a.k.a. Monsanto Company.

without even getting into the craziness that is Monsanto, which would take hours, I’ll at least mention that the app directs people to Scott’s and Ortho products, many of which can possibly harm the environment. not to mention the potential hazards they have on bee colonies. I understand the need for some synthetic weed killers and fungus beaters, but this company does not feature organic, natural or earth friendly products.

you may want to reconsider supporting them.
