Recycle your ski gear, drink some wine, help the planet

If you enjoy wine and winter sports (hopefully not at the same time), here’s your chance to support both and help the environment at the same time. Alamos wines has teamed up with Protect Our Winters, an organization dedicated to minimizing the effects of climate change on winter sports, to bring gear recycling events to three U.S. cities. If you will be in the New York City, Denver, or San Francisco areas on the dates listed below, bring in your old ski gear, and Alamos will recycle it for you. Instead of taking up space in the back of your garage or half of your studio apartment, that old ski stuff can be turned into future skis, decking, flooring and even furniture.

And if you want more reasons to schlep in your old ski gear to one of these events, guests will have the chance to meet with professional snow sports athletes, enjoy Alamos’ Argentine wines and get a sneak peek at behind-the-scenes footage of Teton Gravity Research’s latest film project, Further, about POW co-founder and professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones’ quest to uncover newer, more adventurous locales for he and his team of skiing and snowboarding athletes to conquer.

Here are the event deets:

  • New York City, Oct. 12  – Patagonia Store (SoHo location, 101 Wooster St) 6:30-9:00 p.m.
  • Denver, Oct. 26 – Patagonia Store (1431 15th St) 6:30-9:00 p.m.
  • San Francisco, Nov. 9, 2011 – Patagonia Store (770 North Point) 6:30-9:00 p.m.
