Refill and reuse: Don’t throw away your ink cartridges
These days, it seems almost every household item can and should be recycled. Today’s environmental offender: ink cartridges. According to Lyra Research, more than 1 million inkjet cartridges end up in landfills daily, adding 60,000 tons of industrial-grade plastic each year.
That’s why a number of companies and retailers are offering cartridge refill services to save you money and help the environment:
• Walgreens will refill cartridges from Dell, HP, Lexmark, Okidata, Primera, Sharp and Xerox for 12.99;
• Ink-O-Dem’s cartridge refill service promises savings of up to 50% over original inkjet cartridges.
