Top 5 food diary apps to help you lose weight
With the joy of spring comes the horror of realizing that bikini season is just around the corner. With only a couple of months to shed that winter weight, you’re going to need some help — which is why we’ve compiled this list of the five best food diary apps for your smartphone.
Most people don’t realize how many calories they’re consuming throughout the day, and simply becoming more aware of your daily calorie intake can be eye-opening — thereby helping you change your eating habits. A 2008 study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine showed that keeping a food diary can double a person’s weight loss.
Each of our featured apps has its own advantages and disadvantages, but all of them offer the ability to count calories, track your daily calorie intake and weight, and manage your nutrition. Even if you prefer not to use an app, simply jotting down each meal and snack can help. If these aren’t for you, try recording your daily eats in the Notepad app that comes with most phones. Even without the calorie counters, you’ll find yourself mustering up a little more self-control so that you don’t have a disappointing journal entry at the end of the day.

And what about “Diet Diary – Calories”.
This one is the best I tried.
Good one! Thanks, Izabelle!
I wish it was available on Android phones. It looks like you have to buy the premium membership to track your exercise as well. I’m sure because I’m not going to use it because I can’t sync it on my phone.
I use Noon Coach, it’s frr but they also have a Pro version. It’s a do all app, for exercise, articles about healthy eating, monitor intake by good, better, and best food options, or detailed calorie counting. I love it
Hi-
I created a diet tracker app called My Diet Tracker that uses the camera to track all of your meals. It’s really easy to use. I’d love some feedback. Please don’t hesitate to contact me through the support page if you have any issues or suggestions. Download it from the App Store here:

I just started using MyFitness Pal – what I like about it I can connect with others and if they share their food journal, I can see what they eat. This gives me ideas of what I can and should be using doing. It’s also great because my sister and I eat the same things when we go out for Friday night dinner and it has a function so I can just copy her dinner. She does not mind entering in her food. I hate it but love the scanning feature.
It not just the logging that important it
I used SparkPeople on my desktop in previous years, so I jumped to download the app. However, was very surprised that I have to buy one app for my phone and another app for my iPad!!
I had been using My Fitness Pal, which is easy to use but lately the server has been down. So I tried MyNet Diary but in the free version it doesn’t subtract the exercise calories from the consumed calories – dumb! Also not intuitive at all.
