The Indian culture is one of the oldest in the world and as such has a lot to offer. Using all kinds of herbs for different purposes is part of the grand tradition of the Indian people. Many herbs can be used for cleaning and moisturizing the face and hands. Knowing more about these Indian herbs will allow you to solve some of the problems you may be having with your skin.

Before you can start using these herbs, you need to learn about them and the beauty secrets they hide. Here are four you should start with:

  • Sandalwood: Sandalwood is often included in the composition of different body lotions, oils and others due to its many beneficial qualities and nice aroma. What you might not know, however, is that sandalwood can also be used as a skincare product. If you manage to find this herb in a form of paste or even powder, you can use it to make facial masks at home. Mix 1 tablespoon of sandalwood with one of turmeric and leave the product on your face for 20 minutes.

  • Turmeric: Just like  sandalwood,  turmeric is also a very powerful herb that is usually offered in the form of powder or paste. It is used as an ingredient in antibacterial lotions and various other products and has a very strong effect. It is enough to clean your skin with turmeric in combination with sandalwood or some other herb. It can also help clear up pimples and blackheads. (Test patch this first, because turmeric stains.)

  • Henna: Henna is very popular in the cosmetic industry as a plant that is used for preparing different hair dyes. If you often color your hair and start to notice the negative effect of the chemical products, you can switch immediately to products that contain or are made entirely from henna. This plant has been used for centuries as one of the most effective and safe herbs for hair coloring.

  • Calendula: Calendula, which is also known as marigold, is a plant used for medicinal and culinary purposes as well as a skincare product. If you want to have perfect skin which is always clean, you can apply a marigold paste, along with other herbs of your choosing, on your face and leave it for a couple of minutes before washing.
